Adopt a FREE Hop Plant!
Grow hops for our community beer.
We are looking for local volunteers to adopt a free hop plant so we can make a community fresh hop beer at the end of the summer. This beer is special as you usually use dried hops to make beer. Do you have space in your garden or on your farm or allotment? Great! Here’s what to do:
Register your interest (details below).
When your hop is ready, collect from MASHED in Aberystwyth – we’ll also include growing and care instructions.
In late summer we’ll ask you to harvest your hops on a specific date.
Bring the fresh hops to MASHED and we’ll pop them in our community brew.
When the community beer is ready you’ll be invited to MASHED to taste it

ABOUT ME
I’m an easy to grow and pretty hardy annual.
I’m a climbing plant and prefer having a trellis or similar to grow up. I can grow up to 4 meters high!
I might produce a few hops in the first year, but it may be a couple of years until you get a proper harvest.
I can last for over 20 years and you can divide my rhizomes to make more plants.
