South Devon Pubs Worth the Visit

South Devon is home to many great pubs and micro breweries. We can’t say we have visited them all (yet!) – but we have visited many. All pubs are worth a visit in my mind, but this is a list of some that I would happily go back to again and again. Here is a list of some of our favourites.

Church House Inn

This is a local of ours here at Wild Willow Farm. A brilliant traditional pub up the road in Churchstow. The staff are very welcoming and serve amazing food,  including great gluten-free and vegan options, and a brilliant range of gins!

The Totnes Brewing Company

We use to live in Totnes and this was one of our favourite hangouts. It has certainly got one of the best atmospheres in this unique market town. The Totnes Brewing Company has its own micro brewery in the back and also boasts a huge selection of craft beers.

Pig’s Nose Inn

You have to love this pub. It is a little out the way but it will be a pub you go  home to and tell your friends about. The Pig’s Nose is steeped in music, with a large performance room and host great nights. Damon Albarn, The Animals, Atomic Kitten and The Boomtown Rats have all played here.

The Maltsters Arms

This pub has managed to get the balance right between being a pub with a great restaurant and bar. It has managed to save its local pub feel, rightfully so as this pub use to be owned by one of the greats, Keith Floyd.

The Albert

I am very biased on this one as I play darts here. But all bias aside, this pub really does pack a punch. The food, (especially the pies) are all home cooked and are amazing. The Albert also has a small micro brewery and serves a selection of great brews. If you are looking a real local pub this is worth the visit. Music is played at the weekends – check out their website for more information.

The Cove

Hope Cove is a great place to visit for walks, beach, surf and The Cove cafe/bar. – an amazing  beach side pub. The service and food are really great with something for everyone. In fact they serve one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had! They have great vegan options too. They also host entertaining evenings on Friday & Saturday nights,  – book in advance as they are very popular.

Yum yum, this pub has an amazing kitchen and also is possibly one of the best looking and quintessential pub in this area! Nestled in the beautiful small village of South Pool it’s worth a night out.

The Ferry Inn

The Ferry Inn must be the best located pub in the whole of the Devon. It is right on the water’s edge with fabulous views across the estuary. Sitting on the wall, legs dangling and a drink in hand is a must-do when in Salcombe. Then hop on the ferry back to Kingsbridge!
