Saison is a style of beer – a farmhouse ale, usually pale – originating from Wallonia, a region in the south of Belgium. Traditionally, Saisons were brewed in the winter months for the farmers to drink during the summer harvesting season. They were designed to be refreshing and invigorating while providing nourishment and hydration. The original Saisons were lower in alcohol (to hydrate those weary farmers) but today this style has a variable alcohol content, the standard ABV usually landing between 5-7%.
